People and Life

I am starting to think I would rather genuinely and deeply connect with one person, than make aquaintances with 100+. Which is opposite my personality sometimes because I like to talk to everyone.

I think this is a shift of value in importance. You can not connect with everyone. And you can't be everyones friend.

Also friends are very important. Friendship is an investment into someone elses life. And I think you take with that risk. Everyone is flawed. I know I am. And there are things that you will find in others that you do not like. But the risk and challenge is to be in relationship anyways. Even if things are a little messed up because hey, we are all a little messed up. There is risk in relationship but I think that risk is neccesary. CHOOSING to be in relationship, rather than pull away if you are uncomfortable.

This break I have had a lot of awesome and challenging experiences. I went to Ft. Worth for Christmas, New Orleans for New Years, stayed with my grandparents in Austin while I went through cashier training at HEB. I visited and observed with Social Workers at 2 hospital clinics, 1 hospital, and 2 homeless shelters. I got to visit about 6 different community resources here in San Marcos including the San Marcos Food Bank, Hays Caldwell Drug and Alcohol Abuse Center, GSMYC, Community Action, etc...

And hopefully many more times to come! Here's to 2007!
